If a fox could talk...

...I'd ask her why she keeps crossing my path every time I'm preoccupied with questions of romance or career. What does this animal of the between times and places have to say to me? Is she coming to reassure? To challenge? To warn? To confuse? Am I even asking the right questions?

OK, lemme try that again.

Foxy Lady...

Foxy in your career (not a bad thing!)

I'm glad you're out in nature in the mornings. ... I think you've helped me DECIDE what to do with my morning. Yes! I'll take a walk. Thanks, friend!

A native elder I know always says that asking questions isn't the way to learn, that learning is about waiting, listening, observing, and letting the knowledge come to you.

How cool that you have a fox in your fox! Snakes are what always appear to me during times like that.

I like what jo(e) says. If the fox is the creature of in-betweens, maybe she's asking you to join her there, just hang out and see what will come to you.

I love these thoughts. You are so good at paying attention.

when you talk about this, i'm reminded of the indigo girls song, "deconstruction," in which emily sings, "a family of foxes came to my yard and dug in / i looked in a book to see what this could possibly mean / 'cause there's fate in the breeze and signs in the trees...."

i did a quick google search on 'fox symbolism' and found a ridiculous plethora of possible meanings. you can almost pick what you want it to mean. of course, the fox relates to wisdom and shrewdness and cleverness, which can be both positive and negative. fox is quick-thinking and adaptable. fox also relates to focus and determination and right-action. (here)

this one was rather interesting. at first it seemed negative, but it ended up quite heroically: "may be a reminder to the bearer to stay alert and resist temptation" (here)

i love these posts of yours. foxes have always fascinated me. i don't get to see them often enough. they seem to have chosen you. way cool.

Thanks, everyone. It's wonderful having the fox so close. I see fairly regularly, but it's times like yesterday when one comes out of nowhere and surprises me that get my attention. I've thought a lot about what Jo(e) said, and am inclined to just sit and wait and watch. I do, however, think what seeing the fox does, and it fits with some of what CGM found (Wow! Thanks for all of that, by the way!), is it gets my attention and calls me to be alert to all that's going around me. A good reminder what's happening at work right now.
